Safety Tips

Most jobs on DoneIt go without a hitch. But it's worth reading this once — for customers and workers alike.
For customers
Check the profile before you hire. Look at reviews, how long the person has been on DoneIt, and whether their account is verified. A worker with solid reviews over several months is a good sign. A fresh account with nothing on it isn't automatically bad — just ask a few more questions before committing.
Keep the conversation on DoneIt. Using the platform chat protects you if something goes wrong later. Workers who immediately want to move to WhatsApp or personal email are a yellow flag — not necessarily a red one, but worth noting.
Don't pay everything upfront. A deposit for large jobs (materials, scaffolding, etc.) is perfectly normal. Paying in full before a single thing is done is not. Agree the price and payment schedule before work starts.
For bigger jobs, meet first. Walk the job with the worker, in daylight, at the property. It's normal. It clarifies scope and saves disputes later.
Trust your gut. If something feels off, it probably is. You can end a conversation and move on with no explanation needed. Report anything that concerns you.
For workers
Agree scope in writing before you start. Not legally binding writing — just a clear message in the chat. "That's €200 for the full garden clearance, this Saturday at 10am, no skips included" is enough. It saves a lot of headaches.
A deposit is professional, not suspicious. For larger jobs, asking for a deposit is standard. Just make sure it's agreed upfront and that the customer knows when and how to pay the balance.
You're responsible for your own safety on site. Use the right equipment. Follow regulations — especially for electrical, gas, or structural work. Don't take on a job you're not qualified to do safely.
If a customer is being difficult, tell us. Abusive behaviour, refusal to pay for completed work, or anything that seems like a scam — contact us and we'll look into it. Don't try to sort serious issues alone.
Walk away if you feel unsafe. No job is worth it. Report the incident to us and, if needed, to the Gardaí.
